How do we do it?

The Adige LT8.10

Seeing our LT8.10 Tube Laser Cutter in action is a marvel to behold. Golden sparks cascade from the laser as it jumps around the metal with dazzling precision. Cutting box section or round tube are just two of the core functions that the laser cutter can perform – there is so much that it can do.

Armed with the ideal design, the laser can be programmed to cut in extremely complex patterns. The multi-axis 3d tube laser give us the freedom to instruct the laser to cut in a straight line before jumping to cut out precise circles immediately after, before parting the bar off on an angle to create a weld prep.  You will be astonished by the possibilities of laser profiling.

The sheer diversity of SSC’s tube laser lets us cut all types of section, including circular, box, channel, angle, flat and irregular sections. You can laser tube cut up to 219mm in diameter. Square box sections can then be cut up to 200mm, while it is possible to manufacture parts up to 8.5m in length.

The ByTube 130  

We have added to our Tube Laser Cutting armoury with our Bystronic ByTube 130 Fiber Tube Laser, which has increased our capacity and opened up additional materials that can now be tube laser cut. Reflective materials, such as Aluminium, Brass and Copper can now be tube laser cut at SSC

The Fiber technology allows us to cut these reflective materials, which has previously not been possible. This opens up our tube laser cutting services to new markets and industries that use these reflective materials. The Fiber Technology brings with it an increase in cutting speed, making us more competitive with parts taking less time to process.

The additional Tube Laser gives us the flexibility to service our customers with shorter, more consistent lead times. With both the Adige LT8.1 and the Bystronic Fiber ByTube Star 130 we have the ability to cut from 10mm OD with the ByTube and up to 240mm OD on the Adige giving us a huge range in our capability between the two lasers allowing us to offer more to our customers.

What materials can you cut on tube?

On our tube lasers, the materials we can currently process are Mild Steel and Stainless Steel (200x200mm Box Section, 240 OD Tube, 15mm wall in Mild Steel and 6mm wall in Stainless Steel with a weight of 40kg/m) Aluminium, Copper and Brass (130mm Box Section, 130mm OD Tube, 6.35mm wall in aluminium, 5mm in Brass and 4mm in Copper with a weight of 17Kg/m)

What's the smallest hole you can cut?

The traditional rule was that the thickness of the material was equal to the smallest diameter hole. But this has changed with the advent of advanced piercing techniques and further still with the on-going development of fibre laser technology.

Do you supply the material?

Yes – in most cases. We are also happy to cut free issue material.

Why use a tube laser?

A tube laser takes away all the old processes of marking, drilling and sawing box section and offers a more precise and repeatable finished product.

What will the tube laser cut?

Mild Steel, Stainless Steel, Aluminium, Brass and Copper. It cuts RHS, SHS, CHS, angle, channel, flat bar and irregular sections. We can cut up to 200mm x 200mm square and 240mm diameter.
