How do we do it?
The Bystronic 20kW
Our 20 kilowatt fiber laser has given us a significant increase in power over earlier machines. The leap in output against the previously available 15 kilowatt lasers has given us an average increase in productivity of 40% for medium thickness mild steel and stainless steel sheets.
We are now able to cut thicker materials much more reliably whilst achieving excellent cut quality and reduced burring. In particular, we have seen exceptional cutting results on mild steel up to 30mm, stainless steel and aluminium up to 40mm and copper and brass up to 15mm.
The 20 kilowatt machine retains all the high-precision technology of earlier machines whilst now automatically selecting the correct parameters for the parts being cut. Its enhanced technology, high quality cutting head and intelligent cutting process enable us to achieve the highest levels of quality even in demanding applications, resulting in laser cutting results for our customers that complement our world class service levels.
High Precision Cutting
The high precision technology in our Bystronic Fiber lasers is not just suited to large and high-volume applications. We can just as easily cut delicate or intricate shapes, sometimes with unexpected applications, such as jewellery charms, leaves and flowers for decorative artworks or cogs and washers for clocks. The possibilities are almost limitless.
The power of Mixed Gases
Using mixed gas in metal laser cutting offers a plethora of advantages. Firstly, it enhances cutting quality by minimizing oxidation, resulting in cleaner edges, crucial for materials like stainless steel and aluminum.
Secondly, mixed gases enable increased cutting speeds by optimizing laser efficiency, thus reducing processing times. Moreover, they contribute to a smaller heat affected zone (HAZ), mitigating distortion and warping, particularly beneficial for thin or heat-sensitive metals.
Mixed gases provide versatility, allowing tailored combinations for various materials and thicknesses, thereby optimizing cutting performance.
Bystronic 10 & 12kW
Our 10 and 12 kilowatt fiber lasers are the machines that we rely on for our mid-range work, typically using steel sheets in thicknesses between 3mm and 15mm.
These workhorse machines allow us to cut both high and low volumes of parts quickly, flexibly, and cost-effectively, enabling us to keep our delivery times short and our customer service levels high.
The reliability and low maintenance costs of the Bystronic lasers give us that competitive edge. Couple this with the fact that we have 3 lasers of varying power outputs, giving our production facility an excellent balance, and you can see why our customers rely on us to deliver exactly what they need when they need it.

FAQs
If your question isn't answered, get in touch and we'd be happy to assist.
Do you cut free issue material?
Yes, we are happy to cut free issue material as long as the quality is suitable for our lasers.
What's the smallest hole you can cut?
The traditional rule was that the thickness of the material was equal to the smallest diameter hole. But this has changed with the advances of laser technology allowing us to cut more smaller holes in thicker plate.
What materials can you cut?
On our flat bed lasers, the materials we can currently process include mild steel (0.5-40mm), stainless steel (0.5-40mm) and aluminium (0.5mm to 40mm) in most forms. But the industry is changing with the advent of fibre laser technology. We can also now cut Brass & Copper up to 20mm.
On our tube lasers, the materials we can currently process are Mild Steel and Stainless Steel (200x200mm Box Section, 240 OD Tube, 15mm wall in Mild Steel and 6mm wall in Stainless Steel with a weight of 40kg/m) Aluminium, Copper and Brass (130mm Box Section, 130mm OD Tube, 6.35mm wall in aluminium, 5mm in Brass and 4mm in Copper with a weight of 17Kg/m)
How accurate is laser cutting?
Machine suppliers quote plus or minus 0.2mm, though the reality is that this can vary significantly without constant servicing and maintenance. SSC may be able to work to tighter tolerances if requested.
Why should I laser cut?
It is probably the most cost-effective and fastest way of producing a clean and accurate profile.
How thick is a laser beam?
This can vary dependant on optic cleanliness, but the optimum fiber laser beam is between 0.1mm - 0.2mm.
